MANCHESTER - When you go out, go out with a bang, and finish strong.

That just what the Hawks did this year.

The Manchester Township High School Hawks football team ended their 2006 season on a high note, defeating rival Monsignor Donovan High School 34- 6 at Manchester's homecoming game on November 18.

The players were not the only ones with cause to celebrate.

During halftime festivities, Billy Meaney and Elissa Lawson were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.

Billy has been president of the Class of 2007 for two years. Elissa is an honors student, enrolled

in several AP classes.

Crowned as Prince and Princess were Jimmy Dietrich and Nikki Butler.

Jimmy is involved in SGA, ROTC and French Club. Nikki is on the varsity and competition cheerleading squads.

The Homecoming Court also included Brielle Balsamo, Calvin Zawacki, Carly Di- Donna, Nikole Rossano, Anthony Palmiotto and Andrew Dunbar.

The court is nominated by the senior class, and the positions of King and Queen are then voted upon by the entire student body.

In other homecoming activities, the Class of 2008 won the Penny War and the Chain Links contest; the Class of 2009 won for Dress Up Day; and the Class of 2007's Las Vegas themed banner won the banner competition. Senior Laura Schlattman, tennis captain, won the Captains Pie Eating Contest and Coach Greg Hope won the coaches contest. The Senior Class won the Tug of War.

These events took place during Spirit Week and at a school-wide pep rally held on Friday before the game.
