MANCHESTER – On December 1 Officer John Franklin was promoted to Sergeant during a ceremony that was held in the Manchester Township’s civic center.

Family, friends and co-workers were on hand to witness the event and wish Sergeant Franklin good luck in his new position. Sergeant Franklin was promoted after participating in rigorous written and oral testing for the position.

Sergeant Franklin has been with the Manchester Police Department for almost 18 years. He is an instructor of defensive driving, radar, child passenger safety and vehicle operation. Sergeant Franklin has participated in the field training officer program, community policing, domestic violence response officer, tactical team, and more recently traffic safety officer.

Mayor Fressola presided over the oath of office. Chief William Brase was present and related that Sergeant Franklin is a well rounded officer and is fully capable of handling his new position. Chief Brase voiced his total support and endorsement of Franklin’s promotion. The promotion fills a position vacant due to retirement.
