Vocational School Foundation Officers Named For 2008

The Ocean County Foundation for Vocational-Technical Education has selected the officers who will help guide its mission throughout 2008.
Frances E. Brady will be returning as chairman for the coming year. A local businessman, and owner of Beachcomber Hair Salons, Brady is a founding member of the Central Ocean Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow and has served as commodore of the Toms River Yacht Club.
Other officers named for the coming year are Chef Murray Dychtwald, owner of Restaurant Rescue, who will serve as vicechairman; Kathy Perillo of Ocean- First Bank, who will serve as secretary; and Stewart C. Swann of Micromedia Publications, who will serve as treasurer.
The foundation was established in 1994 by a group of community leaders for the purpose of ensuring a top-quality education for students enrolled within the Ocean County Vocational-Technical School District.
Throughout the years, vocationaltechnical education within the county has evolved into a wide variety of programs and disciplines, with graduates providing many vital services to the community, such as the culinary arts, building trades, modern automotive maintenance, law enforcement, marine and environmental science and much more.
Through various fundraising initiatives, such as its widely acclaimed annual Chef's Night Out, the foundation has raised more that $500,000. The funds are used to encourage excellence through creative learning and the promotion of community school partnerships. The foundation provides student scholarships and provides funding to purchase vitally-needed equipment for students and staff which would otherwise be unavailable due to budgetary restrictions.
