Speaker To Address Psychiatric Advance Directives

TOMS RIVER - NAMI of Ocean County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will present a program on advance directives for behavioral health care on February 13. Our speaker will be Phil Lubitz, from NAMI, New Jersey. Psychiatric advance directives (Pad's) are legal documents that help those with mental illness to have control over treatment decisions by stating treatment preferences and providing care guidelines. Pads are useful and supportive to those with mental illness, their family members and other supporters, as well as those providing the treatment. Following this informative presentation and discussion, there will be support groups available for both those with mental illness and those who care about them. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on February 13. The location will be in the Skywalk Cafeteria of the Ocean County Building at 127 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. Please enter the building from the parking garage on Madison Avenue at level 3.

NAMI of Ocean County holds information and support meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at the 127 Hooper Ave. location. All meetings are free of charge, and you need not be a member to attend. For further information, please call the NAMI Ocean County voicemail service at 732-244-4401.
