Affordable Housing Conference To Be Held
TOMS RIVER - A summit focusing on the importance of affordable housing for Ocean County's workforce will be held on February 22. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library and the public is invited.
Joseph Doria, commissioner of the state Department of Community Affairs, will provide the keynote address focusing on the difficulties many families have in finding an affordable home in New Jersey.
"Many more of our educated professionals, including teachers, police officers and nurses, cannot find affordable housing," Freeholder Gerry P. Little said. "We hope that this conference will offer our working families advice and strategies on finding a home."
The housing summit is co-sponsored by the Ocean County Human Services Department and the Ocean County Department of Planning.
"Having a comfortable home is a basic human need," Freeholder Director John P. Kelly said. "With this conference, we hope to put more families on the right path to an affordable home."
Among the other speakers expected to attend are OCEAN Inc. Director Ted Gooding, Carol Wolfe of Dotties House, Rev. Bruce Davidson of Lutheran Office of Government in the Trends Workshop and a representative of the state Council on Affordable Housing.
