Time For A Tax Revolt
Why you might ask? My response is our government. Why was our form of government formed? It was supposed to be government for the people. Not a government that the people are obligated to support with the continuing increase of the taxes.
Why did we revolt against the British regime? It was because of taxation. As I see it today, our government is starting to do the same thing. It wants to impose more taxes on the people to support the hunger for more benefits and wages.
Someone better wake up and realize what is going on at the federal, state, county and local levels of government. We, the average American citizen, are being asked to sacrifice to support the hunger of our government.
I am upset because the increases asked by our government are over and above what Social Security allows each year. This year, Social Security was increased by 2.3 percent.
The day shall come when we shall have another depression, to have a job will be a blessing. How will government survive if no one can pay taxes? Without Social Security, what would the average working person have to look forward to in their later years?
So why does government increase its demand on us, the every day citizen? Shouldn't all increases be based on the increase that Social Security gives each year to each of us? Think about that, especially the young people, because someday you may be one of those on Social Security.
I hope that all elected officials remember each day who elected them, and vote accordingly. I could go on with my thoughts. You make your own decisions. Glennon L. Depetris, Berkeley
