| MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP - Manchester Township Elementary School students raised over $13,000 for the American Heart Association through their annual Jump Rope for Heart event; once again making the school number one in fundraising in Ocean County this year.
Over 400 students, or about 80 percent of the student body, had a great time jumping rope and performing other fun physical activities for the fundraiser, with sponsors making donations based on their participation. Outdoors, there were plenty of jump-roping, hula-hoops, sack races and hippity-hop balls. Inside the gym there was hopscotch and even a moon bounce.
MTES has raised over $100,000 in 11 years of Jump Rope for Heart and has been among the top fundraisers in the state, according to organizer John Porteuse, a physical education teacher at the school. The top fundraising students at MTES this year were Daniel Danasco, Dylan Giacobbi O'Brien and Justin Blackmore.
