Lakehurst Borough Historical Society Announces May Meeting
LAKEHURST - The Lakehurst Borough Historical Society will meet on May 21 at 7 p.m. at the community center across the street from the museum on Center Street. Their guest will be the Leisure Knoll Harmonica Club.
On July 4, they will be having their 18th Annual Car Show. As in the past, it will take place at the Lakehurst Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will have over 200 cars participating; some of them also take part in the town parade at 11a.m. Inside the gym, they will hold their very popular silent auction, and the museum also has a table with items for sale. It's a fun way to get out of the sun for a while.
They are asking for sponsors for the car show. This is a big factor in the success of their show. The amount is $25. Sponsorship will include advertisement in the program that each participant receives, your business listed on a sponsor chart by the trophy area for participants and spectators to see and your business name on three of the trophies. Sponsorship is not limited to business only; individuals may sponsor in memory of someone, a birthday, graduation, anniversary or any occasion. Your name will also be on three trophies. They need your name, address, phone number and your message printed clearly with a check for $25 made payable to the Borough of Lakehurst Historical Society mailed to Lenny Earley, 300 Lake Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733 or dropped off at the museum between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday. The deadline is June 21.
The society is also putting together a cookbook to raise money for the museum. If you would like to be a part of this cookbook, please send your recipes to Mary Earley at the address listed above or drop them off at Colonial Bouquet Flower Shop at 3 Union Avenue in Lakehurst. Be sure to include your name, phone number and any background information you may have on the recipe. The deadline for recipes is May 17.
